General Website Information

You have found your way to the website of John F Croston III, a web developer and an accessibility advocate from the Washington, DC area. I do web developemnt and design consulting at Deputy Chief of Staff for the United States Army - G-1.

I can be reached the following ways:

I have not had time to put any real content in this website as of yet or add any Microformats where they should be. Work has been really busy and I have to get my presentation ready.

If you go to the blog section of the website you will see is the original WordPress template with over two dozen or so posts.

Right now this website will only be plain pages with nothing fancy, all created with only CSS for the backgounds, buttons, and everything else. Once I have time I plan on making a few styles sheets based on photos of mine that will be part of the header.

Below is a list of items that will be contained on this website. Most of them will be empty for a bit, until I find time to work on them.

  1. About
  2. Blog
  3. Book recommendations
  4. Links to references I have found valuable and useful
  5. Portfolio Work
  6. Things I've Learned
  7. Tools/Applications I've built or in the process of building
  8. Presentations

I enjoy web develpment a great deal. To accomplish my daily job I use some of the following languages, processes, and skills.

  • XHTML
  • CSS
  • Web Standards
  • Microformats
  • Accessibility
  • ASP
  • SQL
  • Tables only if I have to for tablular data
  • Validators for HTML, CSS, 508, Bobby, etc.

In my spare time I enjoy cooking, great wine, photography, hiking, and a lot more. Most of the books read now a days are mostly technical an related to the web, XHTML, CSS, Microformats, web standards, and accessibility.

Please stop back and see what changes have been made. I plan on using the blog to post what I have changed here, on the blog and any other web related items I might have or find.
