Thanks, Dr Whittingham for that information about the Turner works. I plan on looking over your website for more information about J. M. W. Turner before going back to see his work again at the National Gallery of Art.

When I was at the National Gallery of Art I kept thinking that there were a lot of his work from one collection here.

Hopefully they will be getting back to the Tate sometime in the near future. When I get to London sometime in the next few years I want to make sure I to the Tate museum.

You hope that some Turners have been left at the Tate for people to see. In fact only a quarter of the finished pictures which Turner stipulated should remain "constantly" in Turner's Gallery now hang in what purports to be that - the Clore Gallery at Tate Britain. Ad for the most part those are minor works. Would such a betrayal of a donor's wishes occur in the USA? I rather doubt it, though, partly reasons of the endowment running out, those of Dr Barnes are being disregarded in Pennsylvania.
